Amy Pendergast- Head Cheer Coach and Owner
Amy is the owner of Take One Cheerleading Academy and has been coaching children for over 14 years. She has coached for the past 12years and her cheerleading squads have placed no less than top 3 in Local, State, and Regional Competitions. In 2004, she successfully coached her Pop Warner Junior Pee Wee team to a third place finish at the Pop Warner Nationals. In 2005, her Pop Warner Junior Pee Wee team placed 1st at the Pop Warner Nationals to become the National Champions. Amy is a UPA certified Judge, a UPA certified Coach, a Pop Warner certified Coach, a NCA certified Coach, and a United States All-Star Federation certified up to level five in Stunts, Tosses and Tumbling.
Karen Snyder- Ankle Biter Coach
As a former Early Childhood Educator and Administrator, Karen has been involved with young children and families since 1988. She holds a B.S. in Education with an N-6 Teaching Certificate. She has worked locally as a consultant to many area Pre-Schools and the Little Dance Company. With three children in the Brookfield school system, she is also the present PTO President of HHES and serves on the Systemwide PTO as well. Karen has been coaching cheerleading, ages 6-11, in Brookfield for 5 years and is currently the Cheerleading Commissioner for BFYF&C. She coached the team that brought home the first ever Regional trophy for BFYF&C cheerleaders. Karen is currently studying to become USASF certified. She brings to our gym a love and understanding of young children, along with great enthusiasm and respect for the sport.
Amanda Augustine- Mini And Youth Coach
Amanda has been a cheerleader since she was 9 years old. Having cheered for the New Fairfield High School Varsity squad for four years, she was selected as captain and named an NCA All-American Cheerleader during her senior year. She cheered for the Connecticut Spirit All-Stars and was nationally ranked. She is currently the Western Connecticut State University Cheerleading Captain. She coached the regionally ranked Pop Warner New Fairfield Falcons for four years. Amanda is an accredited United States All-Star Federation Coach up to level five in Stunts, Tosses and Tumbling.
Mary Ann Ziman: Senior Blue Coach
Mary Ann has been coaching for 5 years. Three of those years being head coach in Newtown. She was also a member of the board of directors for the Newton Youth Football and Cheerleading. She was the Executive Head Coach of cheerleading on this board. Her squad won a bid to go to the National Cheerleading Competition in Tuscon, Arizona. Her goal with all her cheerleaders is to educate them in the techniques and rules of safety in this highly competitive sport.
Katie Oberg: Open Coach
Katie has been cheering for 14 years. She started as a popwarner cheerleader for the town of New Milford. She later coached a Pop Warner squad. As a freshman she cheered for her JV squad and was on the NMHS varsity squad for the following 3 years as captian or co-captian. She was voted MVP and most dedicated by her teammates. Katie also cheered for Western Ct University for 2 years.She has currently been working at take one for the past 3 seasons.
Becky Pendergast- Cheer Coordinator and Choreographer
Becky has been cheering for 9 years. She started out cheering for New Fairfield Pop Warner then continued cheering for New Fairfield High School Varsity.She was Co-Captian for NFHS Varsity. Her senior year she was named NCA All-American. Becky has also cheered for Take One Seniors for the past 4 seasons. She has coached Pop Warner for both New Fairfield and Brookfield. She has also done choreography for various school teams and Take One.
